TEACHER DEVELOPMENT FOR QUALITY RESULTS FOR CHILDREN

PROJECT TIMELINE

January 2018 – June 2020

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

IEE is implementing the Teacher development for quality results for children Project in 9 districts. This project is being implemented by 10 Mentor Trainers supporting School-Based Mentors in 50 schools. Around these 50 schools, IEE is mobilizing parents and community members to support transition of children from Early Childhood Development Centers into regular schools. The IEE Mentor Trainers work alongside parents’ committees and school management to mobilize and build capacities of parents and community members in support of teaching and learning to support transition from community-based early learning to regular schools.

Mentor Trainers also through School-based Mentorship, support teachers to have increased capacity to deliver quality education. Mentor Trainers provide technical capacity support to teachers at 50 schools to improve their pedagogical approaches and English-language, in an overall effort to increase the quality of education. Primarily, support is given to the school-based mentor who has a role to facilitate trainings and capacity development amongst their respective colleagues. Subsequently, IEE technical experts support the School-Based Mentors to coordinate and build capacity of their respective colleagues.

As part of this project, IEE has recently completed activities in support of Rwanda Education Board third phase of training on the competency-based curriculum. IEE technical experts at the national-level supported training of trainers who in turn rolled out trainings to all teachers in sector-based trainings. During rollout, IEE technical experts monitored and supported trainings at sector-based centers.
